under the influence

The series of drawings titled Under The Influence (2018-) started as an exercise to teach patience, to explore the process of creating and focusing on the present moment. Lines are drawn with a ballpoint pen in a flowing and repetitive motion, keeping a small distance between each line to create the illusion of movement from afar. After a moment of synchonicity, in which I researched the effects of sound on the mind, the project quickly became a study of attention span and patience under influence of binaural beats, instead of a simple exercise to train those abilities. The original intention of the project to teach patience in a natural way was lost, but it led to understanding fundamental workings and processes of consciousness and the mind.
