Agatha Lewandowski is a German/Polish artist and composer working in an intersection between art and science. Her curiosity about sonic phenomena and their potential to manipulate matter, spaces or the mind and body led her to adopt a somewhat scientific and methodological approach during and since her MFA studies, that ultimately manifested in the form of installations, sound compositions, sound drawings and performances. Her works are experience-based and seek to overcome the limitations of sensory perception and perceivable reality. She integrates each space she works in with its unique acoustic character into her compositions;
The space changes shape and is moulded by the sounds, evolving as one moves through the space. Concepts and ideas of identity and perception, of a place, objects or persons, are often a starting point when developing these works. Her process involves collecting sounds and re-shaping and re-purposing them to create new fundamental experiences
and narratives that have the ability to change one's reality and question their own perception of light and sound.
